The Town Mayor
I am using the inauguration of this website to bring you up to date with various developments in Town.
We heard last night that the Appeal against the Rejection of the Sharba Homes development on Churchill Road has been turned down and the Town Council hope that this is the end of this matter.
This week we have been considering the exciting new development on Chadlington Down Farm (South of Walterbush Road) and the Town Council have agreed this in principal but asking that (amongst other items) the road layouts on the A361 are looked at again to ensure that families can safely access Greystones recreational area in the future.
That brings me to recreational areas – before the end of today the new equipment (a basket swing/ ground level trampoline (suitable even for the Mayor so I am told) and a new roundabout thing and some new surfaces) will be finished and I hope the new equipment will be ready for a trial run on Saturday. This brings our 2014 upgrading of the recreation grounds to an end with the Cornish Road ground also having had a replacement climbing wall fitted and a new slide ordered and scheduled to be installed in February 2015 – and we wait for contractors to quote on the upgrade repainting of the old equipment which we are aiming to have completed in the spring.
It was agreed again at this week’s Council meeting that one of the future aims of this Council is to provide a skate park – and we hope to progress further on this during next year – money is tight but there is some light at the end of the tunnel.
In case of snow the quad bikes are on station and the volunteer drivers will be given their basic training on Sunday – so we are ready for Winter!
Now that we have this great new website I will continue to use this as a message board for any interesting developments in town which next year will probably be including Premier Inns new hotel/the finalisation of the new Co-op/the opening of new Doctors Surgeries, New Vets Surgeries – Aldi opening in October, as well as the commencement of building at Penhurst – and with the election of a new Council happening in May and a possible referendum on the Neighbourhood Plan we have a busy and exciting year in front of us for 2015 – and let’s not forget a new Honorary Citizen being made on the 11th January.
Enough news – it just remains for me to wish all of Chipping Norton a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous New Year.
