Rusty Riders are back!

Join us for the first Rusty Riders event of 2025 on Saturday 8th March. Meeting at 10am at the Chipping Norton Leisure Centre.

Cycling enthusiasts, both new and returning, have a monthly meet up to look forward to at the Rusty Riders Clinic, held every first Saturday from 10 am to midday. This unique event, hosted in collaboration with Transition Chipping Norton, is designed to cater to individuals who are either new to cycling or considering a return to the saddle after a hiatus. The Rusty Riders Clinic offers a three-part workshop, combining essential elements to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and educational experience for participants.

  1. Guided Road Ride: The highlight of the Rusty Riders Clinic is the guided road ride that allows participants to put their newfound skills into practice. Cyclists embark on a journey through scenic routes, exploring the local landscape while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow riders. This practical experience on the road is a crucial component of the clinic, promoting a sense of community and fostering a love for cycling that extends beyond the workshop.
  2. Bike Safety Check: The Rusty Riders Clinic kicks off with a bike safety check, emphasising the importance of a well-maintained bicycle for a smooth and secure ride. Participants are guided through the essentials of inspecting their bikes, from checking tire pressure and brake functionality to ensuring proper gear mechanisms. This hands-on session equips cyclists with the knowledge needed to keep their bicycles in optimal condition, fostering a culture of safety and responsibility.
  3. Proficiency Assessment and Coaching: Following the safety check, participants engage in a proficiency assessment to gauge their current cycling skills. Experienced instructors are on hand to provide valuable coaching, offering personalised tips and techniques to enhance participants’ cycling proficiency. Whether it’s mastering the art of balance, improving handling skills, or refining gear shifting, the Rusty Riders Clinic aims to empower cyclists with the tools they need to navigate the roads confidently.

Town Hall TLC: Interim roof works and heating completed!!

All Fixed and Good as New…

We are delighted that the leaking roof has been fixed, and the ramp is now available for use for accessibility.

Major roof works are still planned in, and there is now a working group of Councillors working together to bring all the components of the next phase of works together and the next meeting with the contractors will be w/c 3rd March, where we hope to begin to plan a timeline for the rest of the works to take place.

We have heating back, and there is still some work to take place to get the heating system upgraded to stop any future break downs, and to include a remote operating heating system for Town Hall users.

There really is a lot going on to keep our loved building a great place for everyone in the community. Some work may take a while to complete and in the meantime, some disruption is expected, and we appreciate the patience of everyone using the Town Hall. We will keep the community updated on progress and timelines.

Exciting Progress for Chipping Norton’s New Skatepark – Community Support Needed!

The Skatepark is in the Planning Stages – and we are very excited!

We’re delighted to share some fantastic news about the future of Chipping Norton’s new skatepark! After months of hard work by volunteers, councillors, and local stakeholders, the project has now reached the approval stage, meaning we can finally move forward with turning plans into reality.

The skatepark will be a much-needed space for young people and families in the town, providing a safe, purpose-built facility for skaters, BMX riders, and scooter enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. The design has been shaped with input from local users, ensuring it reflects what our community wants and needs.

Over the coming months, we’ll be launching a series of fundraising events and campaigns to cover the remaining costs, and we’d love to have the whole town get involved — whether by attending events, making donations, or spreading the word.

This skatepark isn’t just about sport — it’s an investment in youth wellbeing, outdoor activity, and community pride. Together, we can make this happen!

Keep an eye on future newsletters, our website, and social media for updates on how you can support this exciting project.
