Who we are
Chippy Community Land Trust (CCLT) is a voluntary, community-led, democratic, non-profit organisation, that acquires and develops land and buildings for the benefit of the community and protects community assets in perpetuity.
Our Vision
For the community to have a real stake in land and buildings and protect them for future generations.
We will use sustainable land and buildings to provide affordable homes for local people, indoor and outdoor social spaces, food growing, and other community projects, that are needed by the current and future residents of Chipping Norton.
Mission Statement
We Are: A community-led, democratic, non-profit organisation, that acquires and develops land and buildings for the benefit of the community and protects community assets in perpetuity.
We Aim: To nurture, protect and maintain green spaces, community buildings, affordable homes and other assets for the residents and future residents of Chipping Norton.
We Will: Keep environmental sustainability at the heart of what we do and create a legacy for the town to enjoy forever.
Chipping Norton needs places where people can meet together, and where the whole community can thrive. Bringing assets into community ownership means they can be properly stewarded for current and future residents. Assets will not be sold or redeveloped other than in a way our members believe benefits the community. As a membership organisation, we will engage the community actively in the work and the outcomes that we achieve.
‘Taking the legacy of the past into the future’
Chipping Norton has a history of co-operative organisations, and we want to build on this legacy to ensure that all residents have a stake in and access to high quality community spaces and to contribute to the provision of affordable homes for local people.
We understand that the population of Chipping Norton will continue to grow through new housing development, and we want to ensure that the town remains as a unified whole with any new assets accessible to both existing and new residents.
We will work with West Oxfordshire’s emerging Local Plan to promote a community-led approach to new developments.
We will respond to planning applications for new development in Chipping Norton to advocate for development that contributes to the local community.
Community assets we seek to develop include:
- Community-led housing.
- Community buildings.
- Food growing.
- Green Spaces.
- Community Energy schemes/projects.
- Community businesses such as pubs/cafes/shops and working spaces.
We welcome all residents to become members, to have a say and vote on future developments in our community.
Our Commitment To Chipping Norton:
- To listen to and work on behalf of the current and future residents to develop what people want and need.
- To act with honesty and transparency and to be democratically accountable to our members and residents.
- To keep environmental sustainability at the heart of everything we do.
- To work in partnership with other community bodies and groups, so that we support any aligned aims and objectives.
- To ensure any community assets we hold are well managed and accessible to those who wish to use them.
- To ensure that any assets we hold are always stewarded for the good of the community.
